Electromechanical Faculty (EMF) was established in June 1958.
The history of our university could not exist without the electromechanical faculty. Its name determined the name of the Institute - Ural Electromechanical Institute of Railway Engineers.
The faculty is equipped with laboratory facilities with operating traction substation, portion of overhead network, electronic devices and converters, serial traction electric machines, control and automation equipment for electric locomotives, as well as personal computers and many other textbooks and teaching and knowledge testing aids. This allows maintaining high methodological and scientific level of the learning process.
An important place in the curriculum and programs is given to the methods of calculation, design and automation of electric rolling stock and railway power supply systems. To reinforce the theoretical course, students perform more than 250 labs, 12 course projects.
During summer practice, students master the technology of operation and maintenance of electrical installations. Future engineers work as locomotive driver assistants, and successfully passed exam at the end of practice entitles the students to control the locomotive.
Electromechanical faculty is a pioneer in everything: It was the first faculty that moved to multi-level training system: Bachelor - Engineer - Master (1992-1993 academic year). EMF annually enrolls 60% of applicants in target areas from Sverdlovsk, South Urals and Gorky Railways.
Relationship with enterprises from railway industry and other sectors and the high level of training guarantees interesting and well-paid job to graduates of the Faculty.
Since 2011, the Faculty offers the following Bachelor's and Specialist's Programmes under the new federal higher educational standard VPO.
